Asus has announced its EEE Pad tablet recently and the Taiwan-based company is now going to launch the device at the Computex Taipei, an international information technology show held every year in the Taiwan capital, in July. It is considered to be a competitor for Apple’s Ipad.
Asus EEE Pad is expected to come to the market in the third quarter of the year. Reports in the media suggest that the device will provide more functionality than Ipad. Among many features, EEE Pad will have USB ports, webcam and support Adobe Flash- the features that are unavailable in Ipad. It will use Tegra chip made by Nvidia and could come with a price tag of around $500.
Asus’ local rival, MSI (Micro Star International), is also going to launch its own tablet device named ‘M Pad’ this year. So, it seems that Apple’s Ipad would face some stiff competition in the months to come. However, everything depends on how EEE Pad or M Pad performs, but given the success of Asus and MSI in the netbook market, you can not rule out the possibility that they would enjoy the same success in the tablet market too.
